DIY Beaded Easter Egg, Some Pretty Roses, and Free Printable Valentine's Tags

From The Merry Olde Dame's Almanac:

Forecast for February 1 - 7, 2021: Wishes for a peaceful week ahead, with scattered bursts of laughter and sprinkles of delight, followed by strong gusts of good fortune and contentment.

The roses above are from a birthday bouquet. After admiring them, I drove from church to church in our parish and laid a bloom at the feet of each statue of my Queen of Heaven. What a delightful drive!

I am mingling Valentine's decor with Easter decor now...I made this egg by simply glueing on, with a "fast-grab" white glue, seeds beads onto a papier mache egg. I do a small section at a time, placing some glue down, picking up one bead at a time with a toothpick (I blunt the end) that was dipped in glue or beeswax. While the glue is wet, you can slide the beads around a bit and get them into position with the toothpick's other end.

It is therapeutic, methodical work, but very easy, so that it can be done while listening to music, podcasts, or television. I am going to try to depict a pansy next. I love their little whisker-faced blooms! I planted their little cousins, Johnny Jump-ups, earlier. Just scattered the seeds and am hoping they will come up.

Here are some free printable tags featuring the wonderful artists of yesteryear. They might be cute for decorating. As usual, use this Google Drive LINK <--- for this large file, so that it isn't compressed and so it will print out the right size.

Anyone else decorating or crafting this week?

  1. Wow...I am don't know what I am most impressed with - the fact that you are already decorating for Easter (hmmm, if I look hard enough, I know I can spy remnants of Halloween here) or the patience you must have to do those seeded eggs. I think I'd be muttering unpleasantries after the second bead LOL. It is a work of art though. Looking forward to seeing your pansy rendition...I have always loved pansies....and Johnny Jump-ups....but I don't have to spread seeds for them here....they grow as prolifically as weeds here most years. Wishing you a wonderful start to your February (and a belated happy birthday?!!) ~Robin~

    1. "Muttering unpleasantries" oh gosh, that cracks me up! Thank you, yes, I had a birthday. I don't celebrate them (since Challenger blew up on that day) but hubby gave me roses! Wish Johnny Jump Ups grew naturally here! I love them!

  3. They are indeed eautiful little tags. I was so impressed with the stunning egg, it must take hours and lots of patience. I was also impressed by your decorating for Easter, I must admit I haven't even thought about it yet.

    1. I think venturing into Hobby Lobby for some floss fried my brain. It is Easter Central in there now. PLUS summer. Beach ball motifs everywhere.

  4. Darling Holly,

Thank you so much for popping by our blog since that has now enabled us to find you.

We are simply amazed by your work with the beads and the egg and cannot imagine the infinite patience required to achieve this attractive end result. We are not surprised that you have started already to decorate for Easter since there will surely be weeks of work ahead to produce more of these beautiful creations.

Alas, we are not arty or crafty although we do count many artists amongst our friends. So, we shall content ourselves with watching you make such delightful things.

  5. What a beautiful photo of the roses. You have red and pink, my favorite colors. I love those vintage tags too. My sister first introduced me to the vintage holiday cards many years ago, and ever since then, I was hooked. The Easter egg you made is creative. You have a charming blog, and I will be visiting more often. Have a wonderful week.

    Happy February days.

  8. Happy belated birthday ~ even though you don't celebrate. The roses are beautiful and what a sweet gesture to deliver them to the statue of My Queen of Heaven.
That egg! I, too, think you must have infinite patience to do those teeny, tiny beads one at a time. I look forward to seeing the pansy egg all finished.
AH! Johnny Jump ups. My mom always had them growing everywhere, but I seem to have no luck with them ~ and today is my mom's 101st birthday being celebrated in heaven. I do believe she is smiling down on me ;-)
